SUMMARY:Exercise to Prevent Falls in Older People
DESCRIPTION:Through access to online learning modules and a half-day practical workshop\, Allied Health Professionals will be equipped with essential knowledge and skills to design safe and effective community falls prevention physical activity and exercise programs for older adults. \nTopics include: \n\nThe social and economic issues of falls\nRisk factors for falls\nPhysiological consequences of ageing\nMaximising uptake and adherance to exercise programs\nBiomechanical and physiological principles of balance\nEffective falls prevention strategies.\n\nThrough structured learning tasks\, participants will gain the ability to identify\, develop\, demonstrate\, and implement evidence-based exercise interventions. \n\nParticipants are required to complete the pre-workshop online modules to attend this half-day face-to-face practical skills workshop. \nCPD: Participants will be eligible to self report 6 hours; 3 hours pre-workshop online modules\, and 3 hour practical face-to-face workshop
