SUMMARY:Face to Face: The role of Imaging in Joint and MSK pain management – Diagnostic and Therapeutic
DESCRIPTION:Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) along with Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai Hospital Medical Imaging Department invites local GPs\, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals to an informative education and meet and greet opportunity. \nDr Mo Gomaa\, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist will discuss the HKH Medical Imaging department’s capabilities\, encompassing both diagnostic and therapeutic services\, with focus to various Joint and MSK procedures and the benefits of bone scans in accurately confirming facet arthropathy and inflamed facet joints\, which are a common cause of low back pain. \nDr Sandeep Sharma\, Nuclear Medicine Physician will share information on the use of bone scans in providing an Interventional Radiologist more accurate information for treatment planning\, particularly for those amenable to CT-guided steroid injection. He will also discuss other causes of acute or chronic low back pain including discovertebral disease\, crush (osteoporotic) and traumatic fractures and osteoblastic metastatic disease. \nThis training will assist GPs\, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals in recognising when bone scans are necessary to accurately diagnose and evaluate the underlying causes of low back pain. This knowledge can contribute to more targeted and effective treatment plans\, improving patient outcomes and quality of life. \nThe department aims to collaborate with local GPs\, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals working to enhance the overall health of the Hornsby and surrounding catchment Community.
