SUMMARY:WEBINAR - Office Hysteroscopy including abnormal bleeding and fertility/recurrent miscarriage
DESCRIPTION:Office (awake) hysteroscopy has been available in Australia for decades\, but GP referrals are rare as most GPs are unaware of the service\, and do not even know that office hysteroscopy is a possibility! Dr Tan has been running an outpatient hysteroscopy clinic at RNSH for the past 3 years\, as well as in her private rooms. \nTraditional Hysteroscopy is performed under General Anaesthesia in an operating theatre\, technological advances including specialised equipment and special techniques that can allow hysteroscopy to be performed without any anaesthesia. \nMost indications for traditional hysteroscopy will apply to office hysteroscopy\, such as assessment of abnormal bleeding\, miscarriage\, or infertility. It also includes removing pathology like polyps\, small fibroids\, adhesions\, IUDs\, retained products of conception etc \nIt is well tolerated\, and patient feedback is overwhelmingly positive. There are major benefits in terms of cost savings (both private and public)\, time saving\, and lower complications for the patients too.

SUMMARY:Online Meeting: Alcohol and Other Drugs - Improving Care Through Family Drug Support
DESCRIPTION:This session run by Family Drug Support will provide insight to the challenges faced by families supporting a drug dependent person\, in our experience families often confide in at least one health provider due to the confidentiality component. SUMMARY:WEBINAR - Deprescribing Psychotropics
DESCRIPTION:The overuse of antidepressants and psychiatric medications is a growing concern for healthcare and regulatory bodies\, including the NDIS Commission and the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care. Both the Disability and Aged Care Royal Commissions have called for efforts to reduce this overuse. \nStopping these medications safely has been neglected in psychiatric teaching\, leading to significant harm from severe and prolonged withdrawal effects. The Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines aim to address this gap. \nWithdrawal effects are more common and severe than previously recognized\, with some people experiencing debilitating protracted withdrawal syndromes. These effects can be mistaken for a relapse or new condition\, highlighting the need for better recognition and distinction. \nAdvances in the science of stopping antidepressants have led to updated UK guidelines on gradual\, hyperbolic tapering.
