DESCRIPTION:Please email events@snhn.org.au if you wish to be added to the waiting list for this training.  \nThrough access to online learning modules and a half-day practical workshop\, Allied Health Professionals will be equipped with essential knowledge and skills to design safe and effective community falls prevention physical activity and exercise programs for older adults. \nTopics include: \n\nThe social and economic issues of falls\nRisk factors for falls\nPhysiological consequences of ageing\nMaximising uptake and adherance to exercise programs\nBiomechanical and physiological principles of balance\nEffective falls prevention strategies.\n\nThrough structured learning tasks\, participants will gain the ability to identify\, develop\, demonstrate\, and implement evidence-based exercise interventions. \n\nParticipants are required to complete the pre-workshop online modules to attend this half-day face-to-face practical skills workshop. \nCPD: Participants will be eligible to self report 6 hours; 3 hours pre-workshop online modules\, and 3 hour practical face-to-face workshop

DESCRIPTION:Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) and Northern Sydney Local Health District invites GPs\, Practice Nurses and Practice Managers to a webinar on the following: \nAre you using eReferral yet? \nSince August 2022\, NSLHD has processed over 10\,000 electronic referrals\, with more than 220 GP practices seamlessly integrating e-Referral systems into their workflows. On March 6th\, an additional 98 services were added for Electronic Referral (eReferral)\, encompassing 90% of outpatient services across Royal North Shore\, Ryde\, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai\, Mona Vale Hospitals\, and Primary and Community Health Services. NSLHD is currently undergoing various service development and improvement initiatives to achieve optimal patient care. \nThe webinar will cover several topics\, including the progress of eReferral and other service information. This session is designed to be interactive\, encouraging participants to ask questions and raise any issues. It will be beneficial for practices to utilize HealthLink in sending eReferrals to Northern Sydney Local Health District Services and receive feedback for ongoing improvements and future directions.

SUMMARY:CPR WORKSHOP – HLTAID009 Provide Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
DESCRIPTION:Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) invite local GPs\, Practice Nurses\, Practice staff\, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals to a Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) workshop.  This workshop consists of 2 hours face-to-face training plus a short video and multiple choice questions.  It will be delivered by HealthCorp who are a Registered Training Organisation – RTO # 91222.  As such\, you will be required to provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Create or check your USI at https://www.usi.gov.au/students/get-a-usi \nIMPORTANT NOTE: A mandatory requirement for the practical assessment is to perform a minimum of two minutes of continuous CPR kneeling alongside an adult manikin placed on the floor. The outputs of the Strengthening Medicare Task Force and subsequent reform and investments announced by the Federal Government in 2023 have brought an extra dimension to the work of general practice. Aspects of this include efforts to increase access to primary care\, encouragement of multi-disciplinary team-based approaches\, workforce reform\, and the introduction of MyMedicare and voluntary patient registration. All of these potentially carry the need for change within the practice team.

SUMMARY:Ageing Well Tool - Dementia risk factor screening in General Practice
DESCRIPTION:This project aims to develop a novel primary care screening tool\, the Ageing Well Tool\, to detect common mental disorders and risk factors for dementia\, such as depression\, social isolation\, and cardiovascular risk in older adults. Following screening\, GPs may plan some evidence-based risk reduction strategies with patients as needed. \nWhat’s involved?\nThe cluster randomised clinical trial will involve GPs and practice nurse(s) completing training on the study methods\, identifying suitable patients\, facilitating the collection of patient data against a range of risk factors\, and completing data about eligible patients three times over a 12-month period. \nWho will be screened?\nPatients must be 60-70 years old and a patient of a General Practitioner in SNHN.
