SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Reducing alcohol-related harm in general practice
DESCRIPTION:General practice consultations provide an opportunity to deliver brief interventions to patients to reduce weekly alcohol consumption. \nAttendees will learn the scope of strategies that can be used in general practice\, tools that can be used by GPs to support these strategies\, and how to incorporate brief interventions into daily practice. We will also hear from the SDECC and Odyessey House to better understand local referral pathways. \nYou will be introduced to the REACH (Reducing Alcohol-Related Harm in General Practice) project and tools\, developed by Monash University. The REACH project supports GPs\, nurses and other healthcare professionals to talk to their patients about alcohol use.  The REACH team has developed a package of practical\, evidence-based and informative resources with input from GPs\, nurses and community members. DESCRIPTION:Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) invite local GPs\, Practice Nurses\, Practice staff\, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals to a Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) workshop.  This workshop consists of 2 hours face-to-face training plus a short multiple choice online learning module to be completed prior to attending the face-to-face training.  It will be delivered by ReVIVA First Aid and Resuscitation Training as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) – RTO # 90176.  As such\, you will be required to provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Create or check your USI at https://www.usi.gov.au/students/get-a-usi \nIMPORTANT NOTE: A mandatory requirement for the practical assessment is to perform a minimum of two minutes of continuous CPR kneeling alongside an adult manikin placed on the floor. DESCRIPTION:This webinar will discuss the management of patients who present with low back pain. This session will be presented by GP academic Professor Simon Willcock\, along with Profs Simon French and Mark Hancock from Macquarie University. This webinar will cover the latest evidence related to low back pain and how this can be applied in general practice to optimise patient outcomes.  The presentation will use the recently released Australian Clinical Standard for low back pain\, and the WHO guideline for the management of chronic LBP as guides for applying high quality care. \nThe session will include:\n– Brief summary of the most important and recent evidence about low back pain\n– Practical guidance on applying this evidence and the new Australian Clinical Care Standards in general practice\n– Discussion about a research opportunity looking at a new model of team-based care to manage patients with low back pain in a primary care setting.

DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL \nGPs and their Practice Care Teams are invited to attend this education session with the Geriatricians of the Geriatrician Outreach to GP Service.  This session will discuss common issues in the management of complex older patients and education on services available to support GPs and their older patients. \nThis event will include:\n– Dementia and Driving – case study and education – Dr Alexandra Annesley\n– Deprescribing – case study and education – Dr Praveenan Sivabalan\n– Frailty – case study and education – Dr Linda Xu\n– Keeping Well and Independent Program – Dr Charbel Badr\n– Question and Answer with Geriatrician Outreach to GP Geriatricians panel \nThe Geriatrician Outreach to GP Service has been developed to help identify older people 75 years and over who are at risk of hospitalisation\, provide more proactive care and enhance service access for these patients. \nThe service works closely with the Keeping Well and Independent Program which is a Quality Improvement Program that assists GPs in early identification of their older patients who are at risk of deterioration and frailty and provides support for their management through care coordination. \nBoth services form part of the Collaborative Commissioning program\, jointly funded by Northern Sydney Local Health District and Sydney North Health Network. \nAims of the Geriatrician Outreach to GP Service include:\n1. Support GPs to better manage their complex elderly patients\n2. Providing proactive care to elderly patients at risk of hospitalisation
