Immunisation Webinar: Winter Preparedness 2025

Monday 31 March 2025

This recording is designed for General Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Pharmacists, Nurse Immunisers, and Aged Care Nurses to update their knowledge on the NSW Immunisation Schedule, vaccine-preventable disease trends, and winter flu vaccinations. Annual Influenza and influenza Immunisation Training for GPs and Nurses

Tuesday 28 March 2023

Viewers will be presented with an outline of influenza strain coverage and vaccines used for the 2023 program, brief review of the epidemiology of influenza infection, rationale for promoting vaccination amongst high-risk groups, and an outline of vulnerable cohorts for whom antiviral use may be appropriate in the community.

In keeping with the Medical Board’s new CPD requirements for 2023, flu season provides an opportunity for GPs to document CPD under “Reviewing Performance” and “Measuring Outcomes” categories through internal practice audit of influenza vaccination rates.

Suitable for Authorised Nurse Immuniser education

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify influenza strain coverage and vaccines used for the 2023 program
  • Summarise the epidemiology of influenza infection
  • Classify “high-risk” patient groups and outline the rationale for promoting flu vaccination, including children aged 6mths to <5years
  • Implement evidence-based guidelines for influenza antiviral use in vulnerable cohorts in the community

Speakers:

Dr Indira Datta – MBBS DipCH MPH FRACGP | PHU Registrar
